Black Femme Power

from 20.00

Portrait of Kiki Williams, from the Trans Life and Liberation Series. Kiki is a performance maker, cultural worker, and healer born and raised in Newark, New Jersey. They use their body, storytelling, movement, video, and installation to create experiences that give voice, shape, and texture to the lives of Black femmes. In the bellies of the stories they tell are rituals of healing and remembering.

“I am a Black Femme Warrior who inherited a legacy of resistance and world making. Descendant of those who Jumped Ship and found home at the Bottom of the Atlantic, people who ran toward freedom beneath the Blood Moon, who loved on each other deeply, and fucked passionately for us to be here. The ancient currents of freedom fighting run through me. Daily I resist death and give birth to new worlds through cultivating life practices rooted in compassion, collective liberation, self-determination, interdependence, and love.” —Kiki Williams
